After the eyes, Geppetto made the nose, which began to stretch as soon as finished. It stretched and stretched and stretched till it became so long, it seemed endless.
Malinois fetch. They do other things, but they absolutely fetch. A malinois who doesn’t fetch is simply a brown dog with a black face, big ears and a long tail. One could go as far as to say that a malinois who doesn’t love to fetch bears a strong resemblance to a marionette maker’s version of a malinois. Their long snouts do bear a strong resemblance to Pinocchio’s nose!
I had the two Belgian Malinois I walk everyday, Butter, Jellybean and Tintin at the park with the creek on Friday when Tintin suddenly woke up and realized that he is in fact, a malinois!
What was his surprise and his joy when, on looking himself over, he saw that he was no longer a Marionette, but that he had become a real live boy! He looked all about him and instead of the usual walls of straw, he found himself in a beautifully furnished little room, the prettiest he had ever seen. In a twinkling, he jumped down from his bed to look on the chair standing near. There, he found a new suit, a new hat, and a pair of shoes.
Yes, in the middle of the chaos that is our splash and throw time at the park with dogs running hither and yon, Tintin FETCHED and thus became a real, live malinois :-)
My friend, Mary, just wrote an interesting post about the value we do and don’t attach to dogs. I was writing this post and reading Pinocchio when I read Mary’s post and it made me start thinking at what point on his/her journey does a dog (rescue or not) become a pet? At what point do dogs become REAL?
